The Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA UK) is the only charity in the UK especially for people with pulmonary hypertension (PH). We are committed to helping improve the lives of people with PH, and supporting the PH community in the UK. We do this by funding research into PH, raising awareness of the condition, and helping people in their day-to-day lives.
The PHA UK was started in 2000 with only 6 members. We now have approximately 4000 members and over 15 years’ experience of supporting people affected by PH.
At the Pulmonary Hypertension Association UK, we aim to improve the lives of people with pulmonary hypertension (PH). We do this in a variety of ways.
The PHA UK provides information about PH and living with the condition. This includes booklets, DVDs and on-line resources. This information is provided for people with PH, their families, friends or caregivers.
We also supply information for healthcare professionals. By increasing knowledge of this rare condition among healthcare professionals we aim to improve its diagnosis and treatment.

We provide research grants to individuals, hospitals and specialist PH centres to improve the way that PH is treated and managed. We also provide educational grants to help healthcare professionals obtain the specialist skills required to treat people with PH.
Raising the profile of PH
The PHA UK undertake a variety of media activities and campaigns. These are aimed at raising awareness of PH among the public, healthcare professionals and those responsible for making decisions about how PH is treated in the UK.
We organise a variety of events for our members with an emphasis on interaction, fun and education. These include events such as the PHA UK conference and family weekends. The PHA UK is also represented at many large fundraising events, such as the London Marathon.
