Group aims and activities:

SheFest is a not-for-profit organisation made up of local volunteers. Founded in 2016, by a small group of female social entrepreneurs, the idea began in 2015 as a one day event. Since then, we have been championing self-defining women’s rights and gender equality, through a whole host of inclusive events, activities, workshops, film screenings and more.

Our annual fringe festival, in line with International Women’s Day, provides a female fronted addition to the region’s cultural calendar. We’re passionate that SheFest will become the northern capital for International Women’s Day as we continue to celebrate and empower the amazing women that are based within the seven hills of Sheffield and beyond.

Our aims can be summarised as:

  • Create a platform to celebrate and promote gender equality

  • Provide a flagship celebration in line with International Women’s Day and coordination of similar events

  • Develop supportive networks and empowering opportunities for self-defining women

  • Increase the number and diversity of women engaging in International Women’s Day celebrations
