Group Aims and Activities:
In 1972, after watching the BBC drama Cathy Come Home, our founder John Belcher began the then named Sheffield Family Housing Association to help homeless families in Sheffield. Over forty years later, we’re still providing quality local living; retrofitting, renovating, designing and building homes throughout the city region – but the work we do is now more than housing.
- 60% of our work is providing care and support, working with people to remain independent and to meet their goals.
- South Yorkshire Housing Association manage homes across South, West and North Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire
- We currently own and manage nearly 6,000 properties. 1,700 of these households receive support to feel settled and maintain their tenancy, and to boost their wellbeing and live well.
Our purpose is for our customers to settle at home, live well and realise their potential. We want people’s experience with us to be a joy and we plan to be here for the long term. We have homes to rent, supported accommodation, and services and opportunities that people can access in their community. Visit our website to find out more.
