Group Aims and Actvities
The South Yorkshire Transport Museum (Sheffield Bus Museum) is a non-profit organisation which relies on donations, sponsorship, funding and the help of it’s many volunteers to keep it running. A part of history is kept alive through the careful restoration of the vehicles. The Museum is currently home to around 50 vehicles, including buses, a tram, train and 2 tractors. Some of these vehicles are owned by the Museum and some are privately owned. All of these vehicles are at different stages of restoration, some fully restored to their former glory.
On an event day, you can stroll around and look at all the vehicles in their different stages of restoration. Some vehicle owners are on hand to talk about their vehicles, refreshments are served and there is merchandise and memorabilia available in our shop.
WHY NOT HIRE A BUS?
If you require transport for a number of guests to a wedding, a party or any other such event, why not ask us to quote you for the hire of one of our vintage double deck buses. We are flexible to your needs but we do not normally undertake hires that involve late night arrangements.
We are always happy to welcome new volunteers to the museum. You don’t need to have knowledge of vehicles (although we always need people who do) as there are plenty of jobs to do.
